Two men sit alone in an office. The first stares intently into the seconds eyes and says “Do you wish to continue your relationship with Miss Natalie?” suddenly the audience is transported deep into the mind of Leo Hardwin (the second man) and the year is 2050. The world as we know it is at an end. It has been transformed into a wasteland infested with marauders, mutants and other sickening creatures. Sitting alone in a pile rubble and filth squats Morgan Phoenix (the first man) the once handsome and business like man is now barely a shadow of his former self. He looks older and wearier.

He begins talking but the audience does not immediately see to whom he is addressing. The camera then reveals it to be a tin can, showing that Morgan has indeed lost his mind. As Morgan retells the tale of how a simple break up can bring about the end of humanity he reaches for the can, the audience is transported again, this time into a coffee shop. Two girls (Natalie Richardson and Jade Wilson) talk about their relationship and all of Jades success in the last few years. Jade then returns home and sits down in front of an empty shelf. The scene moves into hyper fast forward and the shelf begins to fill with newspaper clippings, awards, medals and trophies.

However whilst Jade is celebrating the success of her scientific career, Natalie goes to visit a friend from the office.  As she scans the room for her friend the camera then settles upon Leo. She sits down and the two begin to converse. They talk about how Natalie and Jades cure for cancer is progressing, they also talk about how obsessed Jade has recently become with her work. As time goes on Natalie and Leo start seeing each other more and more frequently.

Jade however is becoming more and more obsessive about her work and begins to neglect those around her, right up until she makes a break through that will ultimately bring about a vaccine for cancer, curing those who have it and preventing anyone else from ever catching it. Delighted by her amazing discovery, Jade decides to propose to Natalie. However when Jade does decide to propose Natalie is no longer sure if she can follow through with a relationship that she is no longer sure she can maintain.

With her love for Leo increasing and her relationship with Jade failing she decides to reject Jade’s proposal and call an end to their relationship. The next day Jade is working hard on the final touches to her cure for cancer. Whilst she is working however she spies Leo and Natalie walking down the drive to the lab together laughing and joking. Outraged Jade slams her fist onto the table. Unbeknownst to her however this fit of rage sets off a small train of events that lead to a small drop of a substance bearing the toxic symbol into a test tube marked ‘Final Cure’ As the drop of toxic substance hits the cure sample the audience is then transported back into the office.

Morgan then repeats “Well? Will you be continuing your relationship with miss Natalie?” to which Leo replies “No sir I’ll end it right away” After this Leo goes home and is sitting alone. Natalie then messages him asking if he would like to come and meet her for dinner some time. Leo replies that he does not think it would be appropriate, To which Natalie replies ‘What’s the worst that could happen’…

Character analysis

One of the characters in our film is Jade Wilson who is a leading biochemist at geneco, she is engaged to Natalie Richardson and is currently working on a cure for cancer. As a scientist she needs to appear intelligent and commanding. She is also the character that will ultimately end up causing the global pandemic that leads to the destruction of the earth. For this role I have picked Sarah Wright she currently studying chemistry, biology and physics which makes her perfect for playing the role of a scientist.

Another of our characters is Natalie Richardson. She plays a happy and cheerful individual who is struggling to repress her true sexuality as she is afraid of offending her girlfriend Jade Wilson. Natalie needs to be able to express a wide variety of emotions as she goes from cheerful to depressed very quickly, Therefore I have picked Naomi Cunningham for the role as she has qualifications in GCSE and A-Level drama she has also performed in theatre productions such as Oliver, Bugsy Malone and Grease. This shows that she has a wide range of acting experience and would be ideal for a role where a wide range of emotions are essential to maintaining the character.
Check out our interview @ charlie hudson As media blog: character profile: Naomi Cunningham:

Morgan Phoenix is the name of the C.E.O of the company Gene Co where both Natalie Richardson, Jade Wilson and Leo Hardwin work. Morgan has a position of authority and command however he is also the narrator from the post apocalyptic world this means that a talented actor will be required to play him because they will need to be able to illustrate the fall from glory that this character experiences, showing the contrasts between extreme wealth and abject poverty. Therefore for this role I have chosen Nathan Denny who is an experianced actor with a GCSE and A level qualification in drama.

The last major character in this film is called Leo Hardwin. Leo suffers from a form of anxiety in which every time he is confronted with conflict he immidiatly jumps to the worst possible outcome. Throughout his life he is a very passive and submissive person. However in Leos own mind he is a carefree and passionate individual and therefore as the film takes place within the mind of Leo, who ever plays Leo must be able to show a variety of different personality trates. I will be playing this role for several reasons. Firstly having writen the script I have a firm knowledge of how the character should act and behave. Secondly I am studing both media and film and so will be well aware of how to portray the character. Thirdly I have taken part in a Drama course and stared in a short film (God save the Queen) therefore I should have adiquate acting experience.
